This project takes place in a small village named Umaji, on the Shikoku island of Japan. The aim was to design some new objects for the use of the local hostel, so that the place would increase its harmony with the specific identity of the countryside.

Therefore, a serie of objects gives rhythm to the visitors' daily occupations in the hostel ( his room, his Onsen baths, his rests). A cedar hanger fills the room with fragrance when he enters ; a small cedar bark box filled with dried Yuzu peels can be brought to the Onsen baths and used afterwards to humidify the room ; cedar balls are used to fill the pillows.

This work also aims to activate Umaji's productions, by calling in both major economic actors : the cedar manufacture and the Yuzu cooperative.

Requalifying a local hostel, adding value to local resources and crafts.
